Aloha Update
Aloha Guy is in Hawaii for a vacation and sent me a postcard yesterday.
Oh, and it turns out he's not QUITE divorced yet. All the paperwork has been filed, but it's not final for a couple months.
I know from personal experience and from dating a guy that had just gotten a divorce that it takes time to recover from something like that. There's a lot of emotions you have to deal with, and then with kids involved, it definitely takes everyone time to learn the new relationships.
Aloha Guy seems a little too clingy to me, and after a text message that he ended "Love ya" and a multiple-page handwritten love letter, I told him to back off. Attentive is sweet, but his actions have made me feel uncomfortable. Oh well. As my sister Steph said, "Aloha means 'hello' and 'goodbye.'"

I am only a loyal blog-reader, not a personal friend...but 'clingy' is the way this guy seemed with your initial few posts. He moved really fast. It is also a red flag when you find out after-the-fact that he is not 'actually' divorced yet. Not exactly upfront and honest about it. So sorry he disappointed you, but you are right to keep this one at arm's length for the time being.
Does Aloha also mean "maybe after a couple of years?"...
As Woody Allen once said, "If only insecurity and desperation made us more attractive to others." My guess is you and he were the living embodiment of Newton's first law of physics (no it is not don't sit under apple trees unless you want to a)get hit on the head by an apple b) articulate the law of gravity or c) invent calculus), ie if you had responded all damn the torpedos full steam ahead he would have broken the speed record for running backwards, but since you didn't and were all cool, as in taking it as it came, not as an ice maiden, he came hurtling into your sphere of gravity with ever increasing speed. While every situation has its idiosyncrasies, most divorced people need some time to simmer before they are ready to cook. OK cooking metaphors are not my forte, but then again neither is cooking. Eating on the other hand ....
A.Norma - I did like him, but he's acting too attached too quickly. It makes me feel like he's on the rebound.
Anonymous - Yes, I was annoyed he wasn't upfront about his divorce status. Glad you're a loyal blog reader!
Vetmommy - Ha! We'll see...
jman - so many metaphors and analogies! Appreciate your thoughts as always.
