Painting

Steve and I spent the weekend painting. He's renovating his house, getting it ready to sell hopefully this Spring, and several rooms need painting. We finished two bedrooms, the hallway, 9 doors and all the edging. His friend Cris helped us on Saturday, and we finished it up on Sunday. It was fun, working together. We turned on the radio, and since the old carpet has been pulled up, we didn't have to worry about little splashes and spray. It's so satisfying to see the rooms go from dingy and beat up to fresh white and clean.

To thank me for my cooperation, Steve cooked me a steak dinner on his grill. It was delicious. He also made me a German cucumber salad. One of the nicest things was being served, having someone make dinner especially for me!

Other than that, I haven't had many ideas for blogging...sorry for the void.

Ooo I think it's lovely painting together..Uncle Noel and I used to do all our own decorating and we enjoyed it...gives one a sense of 'togetherness' don't you think,Em? I think everyone is suffering from the 'after Christmas blues (except you and Jennifer) come on tell us all about how your gardens look and what plants you have in them...Kate bought an Orchid the other day ..well a Cymbidium ..that's the one that only flowers once a year but what a beauty! princess pink I call it...have you any house plants,Emily? xx

Oh, I love it when you update your blog Em. I like hearing about your everyday stuff, and like aunty norma, I think painting together is actually very romantic. Great stuff!! XX

These silly buggers haven't painted as many BIG American rooms as I have. Romantic indeed!
Now, cooking for someone can be romantic, but, only if you don't eat too much, heh?

You are a nice person to help with that. I think you deserve more than a steak dinner...but it's a fine start!

They have good looking Cymbidiums at Whole Foods Market. I bought one with three blooming stems for me and another for my friend/neighbor Kimberly. They are very nice and long lasting.

Can't wait to see you this weekend.

I AM CRYING laughing at these comments!!!! Bloody big American rooms -- ha ha ha! I think Daddy got tennis elbow painting his house, didn't he? Of course, it looks SMASHING, especially the pink dining room.

See, Em, you don't have to write much to get a good conversation going! Do tell us about your houseplants!

well!!! honestly,Eric!! did you really have to boast about the 'big American rooms' hahahaa listen,Bro. when we painted we did the WHOLE HOUSE!! as for COOKING being romantic! crikey! THAT is usually because the roles have been reversed and the lady of the house is either poorly or not available..so stick that in yer pipe and smoke it (calling us 'silly buggers' wont' help your cause)xx Lovin' Sis. ( thanks for the use of your lively Blog,Em.)

Oh Uncle Eric!!! of course painting can be romantic, you only have to look at the paint tins, I mean how can you not feel a stirring in your heart with names like "cherished pink" and "forever rose" not to mention "moving magnolia" - ok maybe not!!
