Hitting the Gym

I joined a new gym. It is Texas-sized HUGE! The facility is really impressive with so many classes, equipment and things to do. It's close to my place, and I'm enjoying going. Being January, I start to think about my triathlon in June -- just five months away! So I have to ramp up my exercise program to get ready.

I've been finding it's not too difficult to motivate myself to go. Partially it's because there is a lot of eye candy (although not everyone is perfect, so I don't feel intimidated), but I'm also drawn to the steam room. I LOVE IT!

I think I might need a steam room in my dream home...

I find going before work the best time to go. There's nothing else you'd be doing except sleeping - during the day or after work there are always distractions or reasons why you can't go. Before work, if you can get yourself out of bed and out the door, the rest is easy. Or maybe I should say easier. And you get to spend the rest of the day feeling righteous.

Speaking of eye candy EJ, have you noticed the attendance at the gym increasing since YOU started attending? I shudder to think how crowded it is going to get if the steam room is unisex! Just sayin' like.

jman: I am NOT a morning person and LOVE sleep, so evenings seem to be a better time for me. And Ha! No, the steam room isn't co-ed, and I haven't noticed anyone noticing me. :-)

get2eric/Daddy: Does your gym have a pool, too?

Home steam rooms are so good for every body. You come out steaming pink like a little lobster with great skin and circulation. They are so helpful when you are sick, too. Especially when there are sinus infections or croupy babies. Not so sexy but there ya go. Everyone's dream home should have one. As for me, though, I like the dry sauna best. Mmmmm...hot hot hot

Hi Emily,

OT, but This Fish set up her own blog at thisfish.com. And, you probably don't want your link to be going to the old URL, which now goes to an interesting ivillage page.

EdamameMommy: You can have the sauna -- I much prefer the steam!

A. Norma: Thank you! When I'm in the gym, I don't really look anyone in the eye -- it's a skill I perfected on the streets and subways of NY. :-)

Traci: Thanks! I needed to update my blogroll anyway... Can't remember, do you have a blog?
